As she explores the depths of the Splinter Hive, she follows her Evil Twin into a Dark Portal where Samus gets overwhelmed by surrounding Warrior Ing before she escapes, her gear stolen by the dark creatures. In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Samus starts off her mission with the Boost Ball, suggesting she kept it after the events of the previous mission. The Boost Ball being used by the Boost Guardian.
